Randy Lee Parker, 57, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at his residence.
A funeral service for Randy Parker will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 19 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street. Pastor Kenneth Smith
will officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery with a graveside flag presentation conducted by the Iowa Funeral Honors Detail. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 9:00 PM on Tuesday the funeral home. The family will be present to receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday evening.
Randy Lee Parker was born September 1, 1955 in Mt. Pleasant He was the son of Russell Carl and Ruth Lucille (Jennings) Parker. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School in 1974 and the Southeastern Community College Auto Body Program. At the First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge, Randy was united in marriage to Shelly Lynn Armentrout. The couple later divorced.
Mr. Parker farmed in rural Mt. Pleasant, raising hogs and crops. He also worked at his own auto body shop located at his farm. Mr. Parker then became a truck driver, first driving for the Mer-Mac Trucking Company and then Vermillion Brothers Trucking. He completed his truck driving career as a driver for Fineberg Metals.
Randy was a honorably discharged member of the Iowa National Guard. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, most especiall hunting and fishing on his farm, boating on the Skunk and Iowa Rivers and camping. His most favorite pastime recently has been spending time with his grandchildren.
Those thankful for sharing in Randy’s life include a son and his wife, Eric and Dana Parker of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter and her husband Heather and Mike Williams of Mt. Pleasant; 2 nieces whom he raised as daughters – Risa Kaufman and her husband Steve and Codie Owens , all of Wayland; 1 sister – Janet Parker of Mt. Pleasant; 5 grandchildren – Isabella Parker, Thadius Williams, James Lobdell, Chance Kaufman and Bristol Owens and his special friend and care giver, Delilah Gum.
His parents and his former wife precede Randy in death.
