Faith Pope popped for 27 points, mostly in the paint against the Ft. Madison Bloodhounds Friday night in Panther Gym as MPHS improved their Southeast conference record to 3-0 with a 58-50 win over the Hounds. Cameron Frank hit for 13 points in the game. Panthers are now 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference. They host Oskaloosa Tuesday and West Liberty Thursday in girl-boy double headers.
Ft. Madison won the Freshman game 54-27, Joe Hess led M.P. with 13, Alex Carrasco 7.
Ft. Madison won the JV game 46-45.

Mt. Pleasant girls basketball team won on the road at 7th ranked Central Lee Saturday 53-50. M.P. was lead in scoring by Kelsi Phipps with 12 points and Taryne Shull with 11.
Central won the JV game 39-37.
MPHS girls basketball team won on the road Friday night against Ft. Madison 39-36, Taryne Shull led the scoring with 15 points.
Ft. Madison won the Freshman game 35-21, and MPHS took the JV game 20-12.

MPHS wrestling team had two champions at the Pella Wrestling Tournament. Jacob Dilks won the 220 pound weight class and Emmett Wester won at heavy weight.

The No. 15 Central College wrestling team overcame a 14-7 deficit in the final matches against Heidelberg (Ohio) to capture four dual wins at the Gulf Coast Duals Sunday at Fort Myers, Fla.
Improving to 7-1 overall, the Dutch opened with a 33-7 triumph against North Central (Ill.) before defeating Oneonta State (N.Y.) 23-9. Central rolled past Alma (Mich.) 30-7 and completed the sweep with a 20-14 victory over Heidelberg.
Zach May former Mt. Pleasant Panther is wrestling for Central College, he is at 141 pounds and is a back up at that weight.

The Mt. Pleasant High school girls bowling team defeated Fairfield 2,288 to 2,149. High roller for M.P. was Rachel Wesley with a 337.
Fairfield won the boys competition 2,844 to 2,560, Daniel Ruth led the Panthers with a 411 score.

The Iowa Wesleyan College women’s basketball team got their second win in a row on Friday night as they defeated Greenville College 65-54 in Greenville, Ill. Danielle Des Jardins led the Tiger scoring with 26 points and Ashley Kruse had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Tigers are now 3-10, and play Monday night at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota.

Valtosta St. of Georgia won the NCAA Division Two National Football Title Saturday with a 35-7 win over Winston-Salem. Seth Wallace is the defensive coordinator for Valdosta State and is in charge of special teams. VSU returned the opening kickoff to get out to a quick 7-0 lead. Seth who prepped at Grinnell high School and went to College at Coe, is married to Erica Severson of Mt. Pleasant a former Panther athlete, whose parents Kent and Cindy still reside in Mt. Pleasant.
