The Mt. Pleasant boy’s basketball team got back on the winning track with a home floor 72-42 win over Cedar Rapids Prairie Tuesday night. Cameron Frank scored 16 points and transfer student from Ottumwa Faith Pope dropped in 14 points in his first game as a Panther, Logan Mulford and Ryan Hanna each added 11 points. MPHS is now 2-2 and goes to Keokuk for Southeast Conference play Friday night. Keokuk beat Davis County last night 61-21.

The Mt. Pleasant Middle School wrestlers tangled with Keokuk, Ottumwa and Washington Tuesday. Winning matches were: Garrett Detrick, Bryce Fraise, Hunter Knapp, Dalton Smith, Andrew Spence, August Bunger, Levi Parkevich, Dalton Shull and Tyler Waddle.

The Iowa Wesleyan College men’s basketball team traveled to Springfield, IL on Tuesday night to take on Benedictine University at Springfield.
Benedictine defeated IWC 67-65
IWC is now 6-7.
Benedictine is now 1-7.

SPORTS ACTIVITIES TONIGHT: St. Ambrose women at Iowa Wesleyan, Northern Colorado at UNI men’s basketball, KILJ-FM 105.5 will carry the game live at 6:30 p.m.

The Iowa Hawkeye men defeated South Dakota 87-63. Iowa State men won over Florida Gulf Coast 83-72.

A local youth has bowled his 2nd perfect 300 game during youth bowling league at the local bowling alley.
On Saturday Dec. 1st During Mt. Pleasant Youth Bowling League Daniel Ruth of Mt. Pleasant achieved perfection as he bowled his 2nd Perfect 300 Game in the last 2 years. His goal is to bowl a 300 during a High School meet. Daniel is a senior on the MPHS bowling team. He bowled his first 300 at the age of 16 and he is now 18 and a senior in High school.

Wisconsin who is headed for the Rose Bowl to start out the New Year will also have to find a new head coach. Fomrer Iowa Hawkeye player Brent Bielema is leaving the Cheese Heads to coach Arkansas and be a Razor Back. Arkansas has been reeling from a scandal in the football department and is looking for someone to rebuild the program into national prominence once again.
73 year old Bill Snyder former Iowa Hawkeye football assistant to Coach Hayden Fry and now head coach At Kansas State has been named the Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year.

Valdosta State of Georgia will be playing in the NCAA D-II semi finals at Minnesota State University in Mankato Minnesota Saturday. One of the assistant coaches on the Valdosta St. team is Seth Wallace who prepped at Grinnell High School, played college ball at Coe College in Cedar Rapids and did grad assistant work at Iowa. Seth is married to Erica Severson who is from Mt. Pleasant and played sports for MPHS.
