Dr. Roederer to Retire as Superintendent of MPCS

It’s the end of an era for leadership in the Mt. Pleasant Community School District as Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Roederer will retire on June 30th.  He has led the district since 1993. 

 He is a graduate of Mt. Pleasant Schools, attended UNI to achieve his BA degree, then received his Masters from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri before earning his Doctorate through the University of Iowa.   Dr. Roederer taught Social Studies before entering administration as a secondary Principal.  His superintendant experience began with the Anamosa and then the Winfield-Mt. Union School Districts before he returned to his hometown. 

Dr. Roederer and his wife Jan have one daughter, Jennifer Stater, who serves as the MPCSD Secondary Talented and Gifted Coordinator and teaches Middle School Honors Language Arts and Reading.
