The MPHS wrestling team that is coming off a 55-18 win at L&M Tuesday night will travel to Washington tonight to wrestle the Demons in Southeast Conference action.
OTHER AREA MEETS: Burlington and Davenport West at Davenport Central, Ft. Madison at Fairfield, L&M at North Scott, New London/WMU, Cardinal of Eldon, Eddyville Blakesburg all wrestle at Centerville, Van Buren and Davis County at Chariton.

Kirkwood Community College rolled over the SCC men 76-62 in Cedar Rapids, it’s the second time the Eagles have beat the Blackhawks. On December 1st they got the job done in Burlington 73-66. Nick Lyon scored had 5 points for SCC.
The 17th ranked SCC women fell to Des Moines Area Community College in Boone last night 66-46.
Iowa State men’s basketball team took #6 ranked Kansas into overtime before falling in Lawrence, Kansas 97-89. The Jayhawks had to hit a 3 pointer at the final buzzer in regulation to send the game into overtime. ISU is now 10-4 and 0-1, they hit 14-3 point field goals last night.
#1 ranked Baylor women’s basketball team beat 25th ranked Iowa State women In Waco, Texas 67-39.
Tonight the Iowa Hawkeyes take their 0-2 record into Big Ten play against Michigan St. in Carver Hawkeye Arena. KILJ-FM will bring you the action beginning at 5 p.m.
The Iowa women play at Wisconsin tonight.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic union has released their 6th rankings of the season. In class 5A Mason City is ranked #1, Muscatine is #7. Class 4A Sioux City Heelan Catholic is #1, Washington is 9th ranked and Oskaloosa 15th Mt. Pleasant has beaten them once and plays them again on the road January 19th. Class 3A is topped by Davenport Assumption Catholic, Central Lee holds down the #9 ranking and Mediapolis is 10th. Class 2A Western Christian is #1, Iowa City Regina the team Mt. Pleasant plays Saturday is ranked #15. Class 1A Bedford is #1 and Burlington Notre Dame is ranked 2nd.

In NFL playoff action Saturday Baltimore will play at Denver and Green Bay will be at San Francisco. Sunday Seattle will play at Atlanta and Houston at New England.

The following schedule changes have been made by Bob Jensen Activities Director at Mt. Pleasant Community High School:
1) The Varsity Girls & Boys Basketball games that were postponed on Dec. 20th with West Liberty have been rescheduled for February 5th at 6:00 p.m. at MPCHS
2) The 9th grade girls basketball games with Fairfield have been postponed from Friday, January 11th, to Monday January 28th at 7:00 p.m. at MPCHS
3) The JV/V girls & boys bowling meet vs.Ottumwa that was postponed on December 20th has been rescheduled for January 17th at 2:30 p.m. (same time as originally scheduled).
