The Fairfield girls basketball team who is 5-5 overall on the season and 1-2 in the Southeast Conference play the Mt. Pleasant Panther girls for the second time this season tonight in Panther Gym. Fairfield is coming off a loss Tuesday night Eddyville Blakesburg 65-50, that stopped a two game win streak. M.P. beat Fairfield 68-38 earlier this season and enters tonight’s game with a 5-4 record and 2-2 record in the conference. Taryne Shull leads the Panther scoring at 12 points per game and Kelsi Phipps is averaging 11. There will be no freshman games tonight, they have been moved to January 28th. M.P. goes to #15 ranked class 2A Iowa City Regina tomorrow.
The 9th ranked MPHS boys head to Fairfield tonight with a 7-3 overall record and are 4-0 in the Southeast Conference. They are coming off a rare home loss to Centerville Tuesday night 53-51. Fairfield fell to the Panthers 62-24 back in November, Tuesday night they picked up their first win with a 54-28 romp over Eddyville Blakesburg with Matt Carr hitting 4-3 pointers. The freshmen teams play at 4:45 followed by the JV and then varsity. KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry the varsity game beginning at around 7:30 p.m.

22nd ranked Michigan State made a late game run and pulled out a 62-59 Hawks are 0-3 in the Big Ten and play Sunday at Northwestern, KILJ-FM will carry the game beginning at 3:30 p.m.
The Iowa women’s basketball team won over Wisconsin 66-56, Lady Hawks made 17 of 18 free throws.

In NFL playoff action Saturday Baltimore will play at Denver and Green Bay will be at San Francisco. Sunday Seattle will play at Atlanta and Houston at New England.

The following schedule changes have been made by Bob Jensen Activities Director at Mt. Pleasant Community High School:
1) The Varsity Girls & Boys Basketball games that were postponed on Dec. 20th with West Liberty have been rescheduled for February 5th at 6:00 p.m. at MPCHS
2) The 9th grade girls basketball games with Fairfield tonight have been postponed to Monday January 28th at 7:00 p.m. at MPCHS
3) The JV/V girls & boys bowling meet vs.Ottumwa that was postponed on December 20th has been rescheduled for January 17th at 2:30 p.m. (same time as originally scheduled).
