The MPHS girls basketball team kept their Southeast Conference title hopes alive with a win at home over Ft. Madison 52-28 Friday night and league leader Washington fell to Keokuk 45-40 leaving M.P. a chance to tie for the title if they can beat Washington on the road February 8th.
Ft. Madison won the freshman game 37-36 in double overtime over Mt. Pleasant.
The varsity girls play at Burlington today at 3 p.m. KILJ-FM and kilj.com will broadcast live. Burlington last night beat Clinton 57-55 on the road.

A 46 consecutive game Southeast Conference win streak for the 9th ranked Mt. Pleasant boys basketball team came to an end Friday night in the Hounddome in Ft. Madison when the Bloodhounds scored a 57-50 win over the Panthers. M.P. trailed 16-14 at the end of the first quarter, but then led 28-26 at halftime. The third quarter saw Ft. Madison grab a five point lead and never let it go. Faith Pope led MPHS with 14 points, Ryan Hanna scored 12. Miles Wentzien led F.M. with 22 points. Mt. Pleasant can still win the conference title outright by beating Washington in Panther Gym on February 8th, the Panthers also will be the #1 seed in the upcoming Substate action and will open tournament play at home. They do have to bounce back today to play at Burlington, the Grayhounds won last night over Clinton in Burlington 59-44, Justin Randall had 21 points.
Ft. Madison beat the Mt. Pleasant freshman team 49-29, Tyler Batten scored 12.
MPHS won the JV game 48-43.
