Mother Nature continues to dump snow on Southeast Iowa. Between 6 and 10 inches are expected in the second snow storm in a week’s time. Even tho snow didn’t begin to fall in the Mt. Pleasant area until about 7 am schools began calling before 6 am to cancel classes for today. Blustery winds have been blowing the snow around creating visibility problems for drivers who are also contending with slippery road conditions. There have been several reports of vehicles in the ditches. Travel isn’t advised unless necessary. The snow is expected to continue thru Wednesday.
Iowa State Patrol trooper Jason Marlow urges drivers to take precautions when getting out on the roads, even after a snow storm. Since conditions will cause traffic to slow down, Marlow reminds drivers to leave a little early. He encourages drivers to give the snow plows room to work and advises turning on the vehicle’s headlights.
