MOUNT PLEASANT—The Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance Government Affairs Committee invites Henry County residents to the second public forum with area lawmakers of 2013 Saturday, February 23, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Iowa Wesleyan College.
Taxation is the primary topic of the forum. Rep. Dave Heaton, R-Mount Pleasant, and Sen. Rich Taylor, D-Mount Pleasant, will be joined by Rep. Tom Sands, R-Columbus Junction, the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
Mount Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce members routinely rate Iowa’s high commercial property taxes and complex income tax code as their primary concerns. This month’s forum provides area residents the chance to learn how lawmakers intend to address the problem and to make their own recommendations for policy changes. The final 45 minutes of the forum are open to other topics of state interest beyond taxation.
Chamber Alliance Legislative Forums are always the fourth Saturday of the month during the legislative session in the International Room of Chadwick Library on the Iowa Wesleyan College campus. Upcoming forum topics are as follows:
Saturday, March 23 Economic Development
Saturday, April 27 Session-in-review panel discussion
