MP Show Choir takes top awards in Pella Show Choir Invitational, HTC & Central Lee Do Well

The Mt Pleasant Community High School InMotion Show Choir earned the grand champion place at the Pella High School “Dutchmasters Show Choir Competition” on Saturday evening.

During the day time competition InMotion took first place in Class 3A, as well as the caption awards of Best Vocals and Best Band. Kyle DePriest, a senior, received Best Male Vocalist overall. Hailie Baccam, also a senior, received the “Star Performer” award for Mt. Pleasant which evaluates expressiveness and overall stage presence as a show choir member.

Mt. Pleasant will continue its competition schedule with appearances at the Ft. Madison High School Invitational on March 2 and the Red Carpet Gala at Manchester-West Delaware High School on March 16.

InMotion Show Choir features 50 singers-dancers, a band of 16 musicians, and a crew of nine students. They are under the direction of Philip Schroetter, with assistance by band director Adam Creager.

Central Lee place first in the 2A competition at Pella and Holy Trinity was first in class 1A. Holy Trinity’s Angeline Powers was also the overall Best Female Vocalist.
