“Managing Your Unseen Employee: The Ventilation System” is the title of a workshop for swine producers to be held in Washington on March 20 at the National Guard Armory.

Hands-on demonstrations are conducted using an enclosed mobile ventilation facility equipped with variable speed fans, inlets, a curtain, controllers and monitoring tools, and more. The classroom sessions include the basics of ventilation systems, effective temperature requirements, troubleshooting tools, techniques and other ventilation issues.

Due to assistance from funds provided by Smithfield and administered through the Iowa Pork Industry Center at Iowa State University, workshops are currently available at no cost to participants. The workshop runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a free lunch provided.

The ventilation trailer is a multi-state project with funding from Pork Checkoff and development by the land grant universities of Iowa State, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota State.
