The Mt. Pleasant High School wrestling team will bring home one medal from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines site of the State Wrestling Championships. Justin Dilks is wrestling for 7th place today in the 182 pound class of 3A. He will be up against a wrestler from Algona.
Mediapolis has three wrestlers going for the gold in class 2A tonight with Cole Erickson, Adam Drain and Steve Holloway. Burlington has two wrestlers that will wrestle for first, Austin Boyd and Matt Seabold. Wapello has two wrestlers in the finals with Jack Walker and Ryley Howell.

Winfield Mt. Union fell in the girl’s regional semi final game they played against Burlington Notre Dame on the Nikes home floor last night 90-38. With the win Notre Dame (20-3) plays in the regional final Monday at Wilton against Lisbon (10-15) who knocked off #14 Preston last night 57-55 in overtime.
WMU ends the year 18-6, they were led by Cassie Kingery with 13 points.
Tonight, Class 3A regional final action has Central Lee playing Bonduarant Farrar at Albia.
4A regional semi final play has Fairfield at Oskaloosa, Washington plays host to Keokuk.
Class 5A semi final play has Burlington playing at Muscatine.

Boys basketball last night to end the regular season, Burlington beat Muscatine 55-49, Grinnell downed Washington 75-45.

Today will be Senior Day for the Iowa Wesleyan College men’s and women’s basketball teams. The women take on Clarke University with tip-off set for 1:00pm in Ruble Arena in Mt. Pleasant. The men’s game will follow with tip-off scheduled for 3:00pm, also against Clarke University. Fans are encouraged to wear white for a “White Out.”
Prior to the game, IWC alumni and current women’s assistant basketball coach Anna Jones will be honored with the unveiling of a fathead of herself. Jones was a two-time All-American at Iowa Wesleyan during a four-year career that made her one of the greatest players in the school’s long and distinguished history of playing women’s basketball. She was just the second player in school history to receive NAIA Division II First Team All-American honors, and was a three-time First Team All-Midwest Collegiate Conference selection. She finished her career as the school’s all-time leader in assists and steals and also ranks fourth in school history in scoring and fifth in rebounding. She also was a member of three Tiger teams to advance to the NAIA Division II National Tournament, and as a sophomore was a starter on IWC’s record setting team that finished 27-8 and advanced to the Elite 8 at nationals.

The Class 3A District for the Mt. Pleasant Panther boys basketball team begins Monday when they open up at home against Clear Creek Amana, while Ft. Madison will play at Williamsburg that night. The first round winners will meet in the District Championship February 21st at Fairfield, the winner advances to the Substate championship February 25th against the District winner involving Fairfield @ Keokuk 2/18/13, Washington @ Solon, the winners play on 2/21/13 and that winner moves to the Substate championship at Iowa City West unless Keokuk is playing then it will be at Burlington.
