The Mediapolis Bulldog wrestling team won the Regional Team Dual Meet that they hosted last night. The Bulldogs defeated Williamsburg in the semi final match 50-18, Albia defeated Washington 45-30. Then Mediapolis rolled over Albia in the Championship match 64-6. Now it’s onto the Team Dual Meet Championships next Wednesday in Des Moines. 3rd ranked Mediapolis tangles with 6th ranked LaPorte City Union in the 1st round. Other class 2A team dual championship qualifiers were: #1 ranked Manchester West Delaware, Ballard, Charles City, Creston Orient Macksburg, Davenport Assumption, and Boyden Hull-Rock Valley.
The 1A team dual meet qualifiers are: Alburnett, West Marshall, Sumner-Fredericksburg, Clarion Goldberg, Woodbury Central, Audubon, Eddyville Blakesburg and Emmettsburg.

The MPHS girls were sluggish in the first half against West Liberty last night in Panther Gym leading just 14-11, then cut loose in the third quarter and put up 14 puts and got control of the game and outscored the Comets 24-16 in the last two quarters to win 38-27. Taryne Shull and Kelsi Phipps each scored 10 points. Panther girls play for the conference championship

The MPHS boys rolled over West Liberty 69-31, Faith Pope hit for 19 points and Brant Shellman added 16. MPHS is now 14-5 and host Washington Friday.

The men’s basketball game between IWC and Lindenwood University-Belleville tonight has been canceled because of a scheduling mix up.

Mt. Pleasant bowled at L&M last night, the MPHS girls won 2560-1527, Tori Roe rolled a 388.
L&M won the boys match 3247-3003, Jordon Meyer was high roller with a 448.

The SEI Super Conference Boys Basketball “Shootout” games will pair the first place team in the North Division against the first place team in the South Division. The second place teams in each division through the tenth place teams will play each other. All games are to be played on Friday, February 8, 2013 at the North Division schools with the exception of the Danville vs. Lone Tree game which will be played at Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman. KILJ-FM 105.5 will be broadcasting that game live beginning at 7:30 p.m. A preliminary game involving the JV teams of each school will be played beginning at 6:00PM with the varsity game to follow 20 minutes after its completion.
