Girl’s regional tournament basketball got started last night. KILJ broadcast the New London at Winfield Mt. Union game. The Lady Wolves protected their home court against the young and determined Tigers with a 54-43 win. Alicia Escher had a big game scoring 23 for the winners helped out by Shelby Therme with 11. New London was led by Addie Lounsbury with 16 points, Morgan Christner scored 11.
WMU will now host Waco Tuesday night in the next round of the tournament, they advanced to the second round with a 50-21 win over Harmony in Wayland, KILJ-FM and will carry the game live. Danville beat Holy Trinity Catholic 53-39, the lady bears will now go to Burlington Notre Dame Tuesday night for quarterfinal action.
Saturday night the 2A and 3A teams open up Regional play, Class 3A will have Mediapolis opening at home against West Liberty KILJ-FM 105.5 will carry the game live. Columbus Community is at Williamsburg. Central Lee will open at home against Centerville.
Class 2A has Wapello at West Burlington and L&M at Durant Saturday night.

Tonight the Mt. Pleasant Panther girls basketball team will travel to Washington to battle the Demons girls for the Southeast Conference title. Each team has a record of 5-2 in the league, Washington won the first meeting in overtime in Panther Gym.
KILJ will give you score updates during our broadcast of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference Super shootout at Mid Prairie High School with #1 ranked Danville playing #2 ranked Lone Tree.

The MPHS boys can wrap up another outright conference championship with a win at home tonight against the Washington Demons. M.P. rolled over the Demons earlier in the year and are coming off impressive wins this week at Ottumwa and at home against West Liberty a team that beat Washington earlier in the year.

The SEI Super Conference Boys Basketball “Shootout” games will pair the first place team in the North Division against the first place team in the South Division. The second place teams in each division through the tenth place teams will play each other. All games are to be played on Friday at the North Division schools with the exception of the Danville vs. Lone Tree game which will be played at Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman, KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry that game live. A preliminary game involving the JV teams of each school will be played beginning at 6:00PM with the varsity game to follow 20 minutes after its completion.

Waco will send one wrestler to the Class 1A District at Tipton this Saturday, Cey Saeugling at 160 lbs. was a Sectional champion this past Saturday at Marengo.
New London/Winfield Mt. Union competed in the 2A Sectional at Mediapolis, they had 2 wrestlers advance onto the District this Saturday at West Liberty, Kyle Davis runner up at 220 pounds and Avery Jacobs was the champion at 285 lbs.
Mediapolis rolled to the team championship at the 2A Sectional they hosted with 289 points. They advanced 13 of their 14 wrestlers to the District at West Liberty Saturday.

Mt. Pleasant will host a 3A District on Saturday February 9th with the following schools competing with the Panthers: Burlington, Ft. Madison, Iowa City City High, Iowa City West, Keokuk, Oskaloosa and Ottumwa.
