Drug Investigation Ends With Arrest in Wayland

Local law enforcement agencies converged on a mobile home park in Wayland late Wednesday afternoon. Mt. Pleasant police was assisted by the sheriff’s office, Wayland police, Iowa State patrol, Department of Human Services and the Iowa State Patrol TAC Team executed a search warrant at the residence of Joseph Labarbera at 507 E. Railroad Street, lot 7. Labarbera was arrested and charged with Child Endangerment, Felon in Possession of a firearm and Intimidation with a weapon. Labarbera was located in the residence with a 10 month old baby. Marijuana, scales, baggies and a switchblade along with U.S. Currency and ammunition were found. The warrant was the result of a lengthy drug investigation involving Labarbera selling marijuana from his home.
