Grand Avenue Construction Causes Changes in Traffic Flow

Mt. Pleasant residents are reminded of the closing of Grand Ave. Monday March 18th from the North side of Mapleleaf Dr. to the South side of Baker St. Traffic Control will also be set up to allow for Northbound and Southbound traffic on Grand Ave. from Baker St. to Winfield Ave. on the West side of Grand Ave. The East side of Grand Ave. will be blocked off for breaking and crushing the existing pavement. The Contractor will also be breaking and crushing concrete between Baker St. and Mapleleaf Dr. Grand Ave will remain open from Washington St. over the RR Overpass to Mapleleaf Dr. Traffic will be allowed to travel East or West on Mapleleaf Dr. The Frontage Road on the East side of Grand Ave. North from Mapleleaf to Winfield Ave. will be used for a detour around the Grand Ave. construction for Local Traffic to access the Walmart Store, Orchelins, Hotels and Eating establishments. The City crews are in the process installing signs to help direct the public around to the local businesses. The Baker St. crossing of Grand Ave. will also remain open for traffic entering or exiting the local businesses. Winfield Ave. intersection will not be affected by any Northbound, Eastbound or Westbound traffic flow changes. The Southbound and Northbound traffic from Winfield to Baker St. will be channeled over to the West side of Grand Ave. using channelizing devices.
