HENRY COUNTY DEMOCRATS ELECT 2013-2015 OFFICERS AT OFF-YEAR CAUCUS

After nine years the Henry County Democratic Party has new leadership. Dave Helman has stepped down as chairperson. Mary Essary Hoyer, of Salem has assumed the post.

Henry County Democrats elected officers for the 2013 – 2015 time period at an Off-year caucus held Saturday at the Salem Crew Library.

Also, elected were Bob Petrzelka and Emery Styron of Mt. Pleasant who will serve as 1st and 2nd vice-chairs. Pat Richenberger will continue as Treasurer and Deb Batey will serve as Secretary replacing Cathy Helman. Richenberger and Batey also live in Mt. Pleasant.

Mary Essary Hoyer is a native of Lee County. She recently returned to Southeast Iowa; she spent most of her professional career working in the photonics industry.

Also, at the Caucus Democrats filled precinct leadership posts and reviewed election results of last fall. State Senator Rich Taylor addressed the gathering and fielded question. Taylor spoke on the importance of joining other states in accepting Medicaid expansion.
