“The Friends of the Salem Crew Public Library is holding a Spring Program on “Raised Beds Gardening”. The program will be held Saturday Morning, April 13, 2013, from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m., in the Activity Room of the Salem Crew Public Library, located on the north side of the town square in Salem, Iowa.

The program will be presented by Carol Gard, Master Gardener and the current President of the ISU Extension and Outreach Master Gardener Program in Henry County. Carol brings a wealth of experience to this topic: She has been a gardener for over 50 years, and a Master Gardener for over 20 years. She has worked as a volunteer at the Henry County Extension Office for more than 15 years, answering horticulture-related questions, based on her Master Gardener certification as well as her experience with her own vegetable, fruit, perennial flower and shrub gardens south of New London.

Give Your Garden the Best Opportunity for Success: Come Learn About Raised Beds. What are the Benefits? How do you Plan, Build, and Garden in Raised Beds? The program will focus on vegetable and herb gardens, but will also cover annuals and perennials ― plus strawberries!

Coffee and refreshments will be served; the program is free and open to the general public. Questions may be directed to Friends President, Cathy Helman at 319-258-1469.”
