These were two check presentations this week to HCHC Foundation’s Close to Home Campaign in response to the $200,000 community challenge established by HNI. HCHC Foundation Director Michelle Rosell expressed excitement and gratitude to area businesses that are contributing to the campaign and helping meet the challenge. The first donation came from long-term community business Gamrath-Doyle-Vens Insurance, Incorporated. President Michael Vens and partners Tom Gamrath and Pat Doyle from Fairfield have pledged their support to the building project and HCHC. The second gift came from Farmers & Merchants Mutual Telephone Company of Wayland, Iowa. Founded in 1938, F&M Mutual Telephone is Henry County’s only free-standing telephone company offering fiber optics and hi-speed wireless internet to homes throughout Wayland and the surrounding area. Hospital renovations will include construction of a new surgery department, improved patient registration area, remodeled outpatient services area, a new laboratory, updated outpatient cardiopulmonary services, additional specialty clinic exam rooms for visiting specialists, a new Women’s Center and exterior canopy in Radiology, and a new Health Education Center for classes and training. Today over $1,560,000 of the $2,000,000 needed has been pledged to the Close to Home Campaign.
