Melvin Duane Lundquist, 72 of Fairfield, died Wednesday February 27, 2013 at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Melvin was born May 16, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa to Ernest and Vivian Maxine Banks Lundquist.

He worked at Malleable Iron for 25 years and lived in Fairfield most of his life.

Melvin was united in marriage to Betty Lou Hatton on June 16, 1969.

He was a member of the American Legion in Fairfield.

Melvin was preceded in death by: his parents; 2 brothers: Carl and Eddie; 1 sister: Vivian Shull; and 1 stillborn son: Stevie Ray.

Survivors include his wife: Betty of Fairfield; 2 daughters: Brenda and husband Jim Downs of Davenport, and Connie Carter of Illinois; 2 sons: Todd and Eric Lundquist of Fairfield; 1 brother: Frank Lundquist of Des Moines; 2 sisters: Jeanie Kings of St. Louis; Vera Ricket of Douds; and 7 grandkids.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday March 4 at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with Pastor Howard Innis officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Burial will be at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Douds at a later date.

The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, March 3rd from 5-7 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
