The MPHS boy’s varsity track meet competed in an indoor meet at Central College in Pella Friday.  The best performance was by Emmett Wester who threw the shot 50’ 3” for 1st place.

The Panther girls track team is running at Central College today.


Southeast Conference girl’s basketball all conference selections:

1st team:

Kelsi Phipps and Taryne Shull.  Co-Players of the year Rachel Dunlap Keokuk and Lauren Kimball of Washington.

2nd team: Natalie ita

Iowa and Iowa State both bowed out of the Big Ten and Big 12 Conference Tournaments on Friday.  The Hawks let a 13 point lead disappear and lost to Michigan State 59-56. Mike Gesell led the Hawks balanced attack with 9 points, they are 21 and 12 on the season and now wait to see if they get into the NCAA tournament. The semi finals this afternoon have Indiana playing Wisconsin and Michigan State battles Ohio State.

Iowa State fell to Kansas 88-73, Cyclones trailed by 4 at halftime.  Georges Niang led Iowa State with 19 points.  Now the Clones wait to see who they draw in the first round of the NCAA tournament with a record of 22-11. The finals today has Kansas playing Kansas State tip off at 5 p.m.
