And the new superintendent for Mt. Pleasant is….

The Mount Pleasant Board of Directors has selected Mike Wells as their next superintendent.  Mike is looking forward to working with the Mount Pleasant Community School District staff, school board, and community on providing a “World Class” education for ALL children.  He feels blessed and honored to have this opportunity and to follow Dr. John Roederer as the Mount Pleasant school leader. 

Mike received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska Kearney in history/physical education.  He earned his Master’s Degree in administration from Doane College, his Specialist Degree from the University of Northern Iowa and will complete his educational doctorate in May 2013 from the University of Northern Iowa. 

Mike taught and coached in Nebraska before coming to Iowa.  He served as secondary principal in Corning, Iowa for three years before being promoted to superintendent.  He then served six years as superintendent in Corning before accepting the superintendency in Winterset, Iowa.  He served as superintendent in Winterset for three years before accepting the same position in Cedar Falls. 

Mike and Karen Wells have been married for 23 years and are the parents of three children; Randy (21) junior at the University of Northern Iowa, Emmy (19) freshman at Northwest Missouri State University, and Beth (16) sophomore in high school. 

The Board will meet in special session on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. in the High School Media Center to approve the contract for Mr. Wells.  A public welcome reception will be held in the Media Center immediately following the meeting.
