MT. PLEASANT – Vicky Oge of New London, Henry County Health Center’s Emergency Department Director and Employee Health Nurse, has been selected as one of the 100 Great Iowa Nurses for 2013. This award recognizes Oge’s meaningful and lasting contribution to humanity and the nursing profession, in addition to being viewed as a mentor to others. Oge has been employed at HCHC for 33 years.
Individuals receiving the award exemplify all of the principles on which the 100 Great Iowa Nurses Celebration was founded. The 100 Great Iowa Nurses award began in 2005 and this is the first time for HCHC to have a recipient. Oge is also the only nurse receiving this award from Southeast Iowa.
Each year 100 Great Iowa Nurses are honored at a ceremony, created for the state of Iowa, by nurse and community leaders. Oge will be honored for her achievement at this ceremony on Sunday, May 5, in Des Moines. Recipients from prior years are invited back to be recognized, and the 2013 awardees will invite family, friends and colleagues to share in the recognition of their outstanding achievements. Nurses selected for this honor represent many sectors of health care, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, and school and office nurses.
