Written by on April 8, 2013 in News

The Iowa Senate voted in favor of Mt. Pleasant as the new home for the statue of Senator James Harlan that has stood as one of Iowa’s two statues in the capital in Washington DC. The vote saves the statue of the Iowa Wesleyan College president from being relagated to the capital basement. The Harlan statue has stood in the National Statuary Hall since 1910. It will be replaced by a statue of Norman Borlaug.
