Consideration for 2014 funding for community agencies will be undertaken soon by the United Way of Henry County Board of Directors.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa (April 1, 2013) – Henry County-based agencies may obtain application information from the United Way Web site, www.uwhenry.org. Information may also be obtained from Jessica Hays, President of the United Way board, ph. (319) 986-4613. Deadline to submit an application is April 30.
In 2013 the United Way is providing $30,000 in funding to 15 non-profit endeavors that serve residents throughout Henry County. Next year’s funding will be based mainly on donations provided during the 2014 United Way campaign beginning in September from individuals, families, businesses and industries.
The Web site also includes information about how to donate. Donations can also be dropped off at all Henry County financial institutions.
The all-local, all-volunteer United Way board of directors will conduct hearings May 14-15 with each applicant. From those hearings plus fund-raising projections, the board will determine amounts to award applicants to be dispersed during 2014.
Board members include Hays, who is employed at Hearth and Home Technologies; Willy Amos, Hy-Vee Foods; Roger Beachy, Walmart Distribution; Vice President Bill Gray, Mt. Pleasant News; and Cindy Shumaker, Rodeway Inn. The board is currently seeking additional volunteers to serve a 2 year term on the board. The President & Treasurer positions will be open due to ending terms. If you are interested in learning more about joining the Board, contact Jessica Hays.
