Edwin K. Sampson, 79, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Wyoming, Iowa passed away 2:58 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Born September 6, 1933 in Stockport, Iowa the son of Gerald and Blanche (Van Patten) Sampson. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jean “Jeanie” Medaris on September 14, 1951 at Montezuma, Iowa.

Ed was a faithful member of the Baptist Church after he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was a faithful follower of his Lord. He was a member of the American Legion in Wyoming, Iowa. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked in the sheet metal field until he owned and operated Ed’s Plumbing and Heating in Wyoming, Iowa. Ed wrapped his life around his family. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, reminiscing, playing cards with special friends and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanie, three daughters Laura (Dean) Hiner of Maquoketa, Iowa, Deb Sampson of Wyoming, Iowa and Rhonda (Phil) Reed of Washington, Iowa; two brothers Gerald (Bud) Sampson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Michael Sampson of Arlington, Texas, two sisters Anna Marie Carter of Donna, Texas and Wanda Morfelt of Texas and a half sister Vicki Sampson, five grandsons, one granddaughter, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Punk, and one sister, Alberta House.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington with the family meeting friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington with Reverend Mark Caston officiating. Burial with full military rites by the Farmington American Legion Post will be held in the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
