Iola Elizabeth Neuweg, 98, of West Point, Iowa, passed away at 2:05 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the West Point Care Center in West Point, Iowa.
Born March 13, 1915 in West Point, Iowa the daughter of Bernard and Adele (Mudd) Fullenkamp. On September 14, 1936 she married Louis Neuweg at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1963.
Survivors include her three sons Harold (Barb) Neuweg of West Point, Iowa, Glenn (Judy) Neuweg of Kirksville, Missouri and LeeRoy (Jean) Neuweg of West Point, Iowa, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, one sister Ann Bendlage of West Point, Iowa, two sisters-in-law Agnes Fullenkamp of West Point, Iowa and Helen Neuweg of West Point, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis, one daughter Lois Ann Gregory, two sisters and four brothers.
Iola was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa, the Altar and Rosary Society, charter member of St. Ann’s Circle Daughters of Isabella, West Point American Legion Auxiliary and the West Point Garden Club. She worked as a cook for the Marquette School System. She enjoyed playing cards, cherry pies, cooking and quilting.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point, Iowa. Where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. that evening. There will be a Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa with Father Dennis Hoffman as Celebrant. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in West Point, Iowa.
Memorials may be made in her memory to Holy Trinity Catholic School or Lee County Hospice.
