Drake Relays results from Saturday:

The MPHS girl’s shuttle hurdle relay team ran the 5th fastest qualifying time and did not qualify for the finals at the Drake Relays.  Panthers ran 65.48.

MPHS boys ran their fastest time of the year in the shuttle hurdle prelims 59.45, but were 12th fastest overall and did not make finals.

Tommy Thorne ran 54.64 to finish 7th in the 400 meter hurdles to wrap up the Panther weekend at Drake.


Drake Relays results from Friday:

Mary Wester threw 36’ 6” in the girls shot put and did not make the finals

Justin Dunn of Mt. Pleasant threw the discus 169’ 5” to place 3rd.

In the girls 100 meter hurdle prelims, Kelsi Phipps had the 7th fastest qualifying time 15.79 and made the finals.  Then she ran 15.61 in the finals to finish 6th.  Other hurdle runners who did not make the finals-Leslie Taylor 12th fastest 16.01, Hannah Becker 18th 16.42.

Cassie Kingery of Winfield Mt. union was 17th in a time of 16.37.

In the boy’s 110 meter high hurdles neither M.P. runner got into the finals, Tommy Thorne was 11th in 15.52 and Cole Phillips 30th in 17.01.

MPHS girls 4×100 relay team was 60th.

Former M.P. Panther Miwale Kapande was 19th in the college women’s long jump going 17’ 11 ½” she is a senior at Mt. Mercy.


Drake Relay results from Thursday:

Girl’s long jump-Leslie Taylor Mt. Pleasant high School 4th place 17’7”

Boy’s shot put-Mt. Pleasant had two throwers finish in the top ten, Justin Dunn 5th 54’6” and Emmett Wester 6th 53’10 3/4”

Boy’s high jump-Jeff Giannettino West Burlington-Notre Dame won the Drake Relays title  6’ 8”.  Justin Randall of Burlington tied for 4th 6’ 5”.

3200 meters (boys)-Issac Steffensmeier of Ft. Madison 6th 9:24.


The MPHS golf team participated in the Central Lee tournament Saturday.  Burlington won the team title with a 377, MPHS was 2nd shooting 384.  Alex Krehbil was medalist for the host school Central Lee shooting 81.  Courtney Mabeus of M.P. was runner up medalist shooting 88.  Other Panther scores:  Brianne Holtkamp 90, Haley Booton 100, Elle Schliesman 106.


The MPHS boys golf team defeated Keokuk at home Friday 164-170, Kylie Miller shot 37 for the Panthers to be medalist.  Quinn Daniel shot 39, Kyle Kauffman had a 43 and Jordon Phamsouvandara had 45.

On Saturday the Panther boys played in the Fairfield Invitational finishing 6th with a 350 score.  Centerville won the event with a 315, medalist was Clay Tucker of Oskaloosa 75.  Mt. Pleasant scores:  Kylie Miller 79, Quinn Daniel 86, Jacob Smith 92 and Jordon Phomsouvandara 93.


Mt. Pleasant girls tennis team beat Ft. Madison 7-2.  Winning singles matches Taylor Beatty, Shelby Barton, Ashton Whaley, Emily Hatfield.  Winning doubles matches Beatty and Tasha Glover, Barton and Becca Lehman, Whaley and Crile.


Ft. Madison beat the MPHS boys in tennis 6-3, winning singles matches for the Panthers Chase Higginbotham, Zach Schmitz.  They teamed up together to win the #1 doubles match also.


Iowa Wesleyan College Tigers baseball team split two games with Ashford University on Saturday.  The Tigers defeated Ashford in game one (5-1).  The Tigers then fell 6-5 in 9 innings in game two.

Wesleyan then split a doubleheader with Ashford University @ Ashford on Sunday. AU won game one, 3-2.  IWC won game two, 10-3. 

 The Tigers finish the season at 17-18.


The IWC men’s golf team competed at the Scot-Fire Invite.  The Tigers finished 6th out of 12 teams with a two day score of 629.  Millikin University won the team title with a score of 603.

 Blake Mitchell led the Tigers, finishing second overall and shooting just two strokes off the leader.  Mitchell shot a first round 74 and a second round 71.

 Zac Cronkhite, Michael Mendoza, and Tanner Travis each shot a two day score of 162 to finish 19 strokes off the lead.  The trio finished in a tie for 38th overall.


The Iowa Wesleyan College track & field teams competed at the Illinois College True Blue Open on Saturday.  The IWC men’s team finished 16th out of 24 teams, scoring 12 points.  The 4x100m relay team finished 3rd, clocking in at 43.11. The 4x400m relay team took 5th (3:30.28). 

The women’s track & field team did not record a team score. 



Mt. Pleasant will be playing in the rescheduled Oskaloosa Boys’ Golf Tournament on Tuesday, May 2nd, at 2:00 p.m.


The MPHS girls’ soccer games against Mid-Prairie scheduled for 4/23/13  have been rescheduled for Friday, May 17th, at 4:30 p.m. at East Lake Park in Mt. Pleasant


 The Mt. Pleasant Girls tennis meet scheduled for April 18th, has been rescheduled for today at Fairfield  4:30 p.m.


The Mt. Pleasant boys’ tennis meet scheduled for  April 18th, has been rescheduled for tomorrow at Fairfield at 4:30 p.m.


The boys tennis match that was scheduled for April 30th vs Keokuk at MP has been moved to today at MP at 4:30 p.m.
