Mt. Pleasant won the girls division of the Brookhart Relays at Fairfield Monday night with 178 points, ahead of 2nd place Davis County with 148.5, Fairfield 135, Washington 53, Ft. Madison 37.5 and Centerville 22. Leslie Taylor won the Long Jump 17’ 2 ¾”, the 100 meter hurdles in 15.19, and ran on the winning shuttle hurdle relay with her sister Sydney, Hannah Becker and Amy Buckert. Chloe Haffarnan won the 800, M.P. won the 4×800 Taryne Shull, Natalie Myers, Natalie Ita and Chloe Haffarnan were the runners. Panthers won the sprint medley with Tasha Vancil, Sydney Taylor, Laura Hult and Natalie Myers.
Davis County won the boys division with 122 points, MPHS was 2nd at 111.5, Fairfield 107, Ft. Madison 89, Centerville 85 and Washington 34.
Emmett Wester won the shot put 54’ 10 ½”, Justin Dunn won the discus 161’ 1”, Logan Mulford on the high jump going 6’ 5 ¼”, Tommy Thorne won the 110 high hurdles 14.87.
Tonight the MPHS girls and boys track teams will run in the Southeast Conference meet that was moved from Thursday night because of bad weather. The meet was moved to Washington from Ft. Madison.
Pleasant Valley won the Grayhound Girls Golf Invitational at Flint hills Course in Burlington yesterday with a 348 score. Burlington was second with a 373 and Mt. pleasant was third in the 14 team field with a 386 score. Anna Cullinan of Pleasant Valley was medalist with a 78. Haley booton was low for MPHS with a 91, Courtney Mabeus shot 97, Elle Schliesman and Brianne Holtkamp 99, Emily Cox 108 and Madison Stearns 126.

The golf meet scheduled for today, April 30th, at Ft. Madison has been moved to Mt. Pleasant at 4:00 p.m. vs Ft. Madison and West Burlington/Notre Dame.

Keokuk defeated the MPHS boys tennis team 8-1, Zach Schmitz won his #2 singles match for the only Panther point.
Mt. Pleasant beat Keokuk 2-1 in soccer played at East Lake Park last night, it took two overtimes and penalty kicks to grab the win. Linzie Hood scored in regulation, Holly Long, Kathryn Chabal and Megan Myers scored penalty kicks. M.P. is 9-0 now.
MPHS boys soccer team beat Keokuk 2-1 on the Chiefs home pitch. Yiannis Steryiannis opened the Panther scoring who now have a 6-2 record.
Rain forced cancellation of the April 27 races at 34 Raceway BURLINGTON, IA – With 105 cars signed into the pit area on KILJ Night at 34 Raceway, Saturday, April 27th Mother Nature eventually got the best of em! A light rain began when the pit gate opened and just wouldn’t seem to quit . 34 Raceway officials were forced to postpone the night’s racings events until next week.
Coming up Saturday, May 4 will be Late Models, 305 Sprints, Modifieds, Stock Cars, Sport Mods and 4 Cylinders in action. Tickets from Saturday, April 27 will be honored May 4th only. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands 5:00 and racing at 7 p.m.
Mt. Pleasant will be playing in the rescheduled Oskaloosa Boys’ Golf Tournament on Tuesday, May 2nd, at 2:00 p.m.
The MPHS girls’ soccer games against Mid-Prairie scheduled for 4/23/13 have been rescheduled for Friday, May 17th, at 4:30 p.m. at East Lake Park in Mt. Pleasant
The Mt. Pleasant boys’ tennis meet scheduled for April 18th, has been rescheduled for today at Fairfield at 4:30 p.m.
The boys tennis match that was scheduled for April 30th vs Keokuk at MP has been moved to today at MP at 4:30 p.m.
You will be falling off your seat laughing at the Morning Sun PTO’s Donkey Basketball game coming to the Morning Sun Elementary gym on Sunday, May 5.
Teams from Morning Sun, Mediapolis, Winfield and Wapello will be competing for the Championship game.
The game is a fundraiser for the Morning Sun PTO’s new playground project.
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $6.00 or at the door for $8.00. Preschool kids are free.
