Paul Sanders Patton, 79, of West Point, Iowa passed away at 10:35 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Donnellson Health Center, Donnellson, Iowa.

Born May 18, 1933 in Oakville, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Frances Adele (Heffner) Patton. On October 21, 1952 he married Dolores Grossekemper in St. Paul, Iowa. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2010.

Survivors include two sons Paul J. (Joyce) Patton of West Point, Iowa and Larry (Colette) Patton of West Point, Iowa, three daughters Darlene (Ed) Francy of New London, Iowa, Wanda Coleman of Woodstock, Georgia and Janet Farris of Salem, Iowa. twelve grandchildren, two step grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren, three sisters Flora Odom of Denmark, Iowa, Ruth Richardson of West Point, Iowa and Charlene Phillips of Sperry, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dolores, two sons Wayne and Roland, one granddaughter Jeanette, one sister Martha, three brothers Joe, Art and Robert and one sister-in-law Bernice.

Paul was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point and the Holtz Geers American Legion Post 668 of West Point. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Paul worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and then the West Point Mill. He enjoyed reading and watching Westerns.

Friends may call after 12 noon Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point where family will meet with friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. that afternoon. A Christian Wake service will be held at 3:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point with Father Dennis Hoffman as celebrant. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in West Point with full military rites presented by the Holtz-Geers American Legion Post 668.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
