Anthony Frank “Tony” Meierotto, 82, of West Point, Iowa passed away at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington, Iowa.
Born May 6, 1931 in St. Paul, Iowa the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Vantiger) Meierotto.
On October 21, 1972 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fort Madison, Iowa he married Helen Schroeder. She preceded him in death on November 6, 2007.
Survivors include one sister Elizabeth Krogmeier of Fort Madison, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, three brothers Conrad, Lawrence and Paul, one sister Margaret and two brothers and one sister in infancy.
Tony was a member of Saint James the Less Catholic Church in St. Paul a member of the NFO for fifty years and the singles in agriculture. He attended St. James School in St Paul. He was a lifelong farmer and did field tiling for area farmers. Tony and Helen raised and sold their organic produce at local farmers markets.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. There will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 9 at St. James the Less Catholic Church in St. Paul.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013 at St. James the Less Catholic Church in St. Paul with Father Gary Beckman as Celebrant. Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery in St Paul.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church.
