The Ft. Madison boy’s track team has dethroned the MPHS boys track team as conference champions after a 7 year reign.  The Bloodhounds scored 110 points last night on the Washington track to win the Southeast Conference meet that was moved up from Thursday night to catch good weather.  MPHS was second with 89 points, Fairfield had 69, Keokuk 54 and Washington 50.  Emmett Wester won the shot put 55’ 7”, Justin Dunn took the discus with a toss of 165’, Tommy Thorne won the 110 highs in :15 flat.  M.P. won the shuttle hurdle relay 59.34 which was a conference record with Cole Phillips, Spencer White, Blake Knudsen and Tommy Thorne.

 

Mt. Pleasant continues to dominate the girls division of the Southeast Conference, the Panthers won at Washington last night with 133 points, Washington 117, Fairfield 79, Ft. Madison 42 and Keokuk 21.  Mary Wester won the shot put 38’ 10 ½”, Leslie Taylor won the long jump 16’ 9 ½” and the 100 meter hurdles 15:63, Chloe Haffarnon won the 800 2:25.83, Elaina Conrad took the 1500 5:14.90, Hannah Becker won the 400 hurdles 70.22, the 4×800 relay was captured by M.P. in a time of 10:21.03 Taryne Shull, Natalie Ita, Natalie Myers and Chloe Haffarnan were the runners.  M.P. won the shuttle hurdle relay 68.01 with Sydney Taylor, Amy Buckert, Hannah Becker and Kelsi Phipps.

 

Mt. Pleasant 7th grade girls placed 2nd overall out of 6 teams at Ft. Madison Relays Monday.

Mediapolis girls track team won the Waco Relays with 179 points, Waco had 106, WMU was 3rd with 88 in the 7 team field.

 

The MPHS girls golf team beat Fairfield 201-219, Courtney Mabeus shot 46 to be medalist for M.P., Emily Cox shot 50, Haley Booton 51, and Elle Schliesman 54.

 

MPHS boy’s golf team hosted a triangular and won it with a 149 score, Notre Dame-West Burlington 162 and Ft. Madison 177.  Kyle Kauffman was medalist shooting 35, Kylie miller 36, Quinn Daniel 38 and Jacob Smith 40.

 

Keokuk defeated Mt. Pleasant in girls tennis 7-2, Becca Lehman and Emily Hatfield won singles matches.

 

Mt. Pleasant boys tennis team beat Fairfield in tennis 8-1, Zach Schmitz, Mathew Zilhman, Tyler Pace, Blake Wickham and Austin Meyer won singles matches.  In doubles winners were:  Chase Higganbotham and Zach Schmitz, Mathew Zihlman and Tyler pace got wins.

 

 

 

Rain forced cancellation of the April 27 races at 34 Raceway BURLINGTON, IA – With 105 cars signed into the pit area on Flecks Sales Night at 34 Raceway, Saturday, April 27th Mother Nature eventually got the best of em!  A light rain began when the pit gate opened and just wouldn’t seem to quit .  34 Raceway officials were forced to postpone the night’s racings events until next week.

Coming up Saturday, May 4 will be  Late Models, 305 Sprints, Modifieds, Stock Cars, Sport Mods and 4 Cylinders in action. Tickets  from Saturday, April 27 will be honored May 4th only.  Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands 5:00 and racing at 7 p.m.

 

 

Mt. Pleasant will be playing in the rescheduled Oskaloosa Boys’ Golf Tournament on Tuesday, May 2nd, at 2:00 p.m.

 

The MPHS girls’ soccer games against Mid-Prairie scheduled for 4/23/13  have been rescheduled for Friday, May 17th, at 4:30 p.m. at East Lake Park in Mt. Pleasant 

You will be falling off your seat laughing at the Morning Sun PTO’s Donkey Basketball game coming to the Morning Sun Elementary gym on Sunday, May 5.

Teams from Morning Sun, Mediapolis, Winfield and Wapello  will be competing for the Championship game.

The game is a fundraiser for the Morning Sun PTO’s new playground project.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $6.00 or at the door for $8.00. Preschool kids are free.
