The MPHS girls golf team finished 7th in the Class 4A State Golf meet on the Ames Country Club. Because of rain showers the tournament was shortened to 18 holes, so the first day scores and standings will be used as the official finish to the tournament. Charles City will be the 4A team Champion and the medalist will be Jessie Sindlinger of Charles City who shot that amazing 8 under par first round. Emily Cox of Mt. Pleasant was 10th in medalist play with an 87 score.
New London finished 5th in the Class 1A girls state golf championships played on the American Legion Course in Marshalltown. The Tigers shot a two day total of 773, Grundy Center won the title with a 711. Emma Pry of New London finished 19th in medalist play shooting 90-95-185.
Grace Edwards of WMU finished 32nd in medalist play with a 104-101-205.
Mt. Pleasant picked up a 6-2 win over Mid Prairie in high school baseball at home last night. Colton Schinstock and Jacob Dilks were 2-4 at the plate, Carson Remick threw the win on the mound. The Panthers are now 1-2 on the year.
The JV/V baseball games at Eddyville-Blakesburg that were postponed on Tuesday, May 28th, have been rescheduled for tonight at 5:30 p.m.
The MPHS softball team is scheduled to open up Southeast Conference play tonight at home against Ft. Madison.

For the first time since 1995 the Mt. Pleasant Panther boys high school soccer team will be appearing in the State Soccer Championships played this Thursday thru Saturday at the Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines. Mt. Pleasant qualified for state on a rainy cool Saturday afternoon beating Solon 1-0 on their home all weather pitch. Bo Vitale scored the goal with 3 minutes left in the 1st half and Michael Alderson kept turning away Spartan shots all through the second half as he recorded a shutout in goal and helped lead his teams defensive effort that got them to state. M.P. ranked 14th with a 13-3 record will play 6th ranked Storm Lake at 2:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon on field #7. The rest of the field will be Cedar Rapids Xavier, Dubuque Wahlert, Pella, Norwalk, Waverly Shellrock and ADM Adel.

Scott Lamm out going boys track coach at Mt. Pleasant High School has been selected to serve as one of the coaches for the Senior All Star Spotlight Track and Field meet to be held at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. Highlighting track and field talent from Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. The meet will be held June 8th. Coach Lamm will take with him 3 members of the 2013 Mt. Pleasant Panther track team, hurdler Tommy Thorne and throwers Justin Dunn and Emmett Wester.
Once again Mother Nature chose not to be kind to 34 Raceway this past weekend forcing cancellation of both Saturday and Sunday Nights racing action on the double header weekend. The Brockway Mechanical Sprint Invaders races schedule for Sunday, May 26 have been postponed to July 3.
