Today’s sports activities:  Mt. Pleasant girls and boys soccer teams host Marion.  MPHS girl’s tennis team will be playing in the Southeast Conference Tournament at Fairfield.  The M.P. boy’s tennis team has their conference meet at Keokuk.

 

The Iowa Wesleyan College softball team has qualified for the USCAA National Tournament, finishing the regular season at 18-13.  The Tigers will head to Akron, Ohio for the national tournament, to be held from May 12-15.

The USCAA National Softball Championship will be held at Firestone Stadium.  Seeding for the tournament will be released on May 7th.

 

Lake County beat the Burlington Bees 7-3 Sunday, those two teams will play at businessman special today at 11:30 a.m. at Community Field.

 

Heading into another week of Major league Baseball Division leaders in National League….Atlanta, St. Louis and San Francisco.  American League Boston, Detroit and Texas.

 

NBA playoffs continue, Eastern Conference semi finals has Chicago at Miami tonight.  Indiana leads New York 1 nothing and meet in New York Tuesday night for game 2.

Western Conference semi has San Antonio against Golden State in Texas for game 1 tonight.  Oklahoma City leads Memphis 1 game to none and Play in Oklahoma Tuesday night.

 

NHL Playoffs, Eastern Conference first round has Pittsburgh leading the New York Islanders 2-1.  Ottawa leads Montreal 2-1.  Washington ahead of New York Rangers 2-0.  Boston and Toronto are tied 1-1, Chicago 2 leads Minnesota 2-1, Anahein 2-1 ahead of Detroit, San Jose leads Vancouver 2-0 and St. Louis leads Los Angeles 2-1.

 

David Ragan won the Aaron’s 499 race at Talladega Super Speedway Sunday he grabbed $373,000 for 1st.

 

PGA winner this weekend was Derek Ernst who captured the Wells Fargo Open  and won $1.2 million.

LPGA winner this weekend was Christie Kerr in the Kingsmill Championship she won $190,000.  On the Seniors Champions  Tour Estaban Toledo was the winner and was paid $270,000.
