Monday Afternoon Storm Does Some Damage

The KILJ listening area experienced a severe summertime storm Monday afternoon between 2:30 and 3:30. Wayland Fire was called to 1099 Merrimac Road to Eichelberger Farms where a grain bin fell on an 18,000 gallon LP tank knocking the top off. The report said propane was leaking from the top. Mt. Pleasant Fire was called for mutual aide. At the same time crews were needed at 140th Street and Franklin Avenue. A power line was down and a barn blew down, scattering debris across the roadway. Olds Fire was called to assist there. Olds reported many limbs down and no power. There were also reports of downed limbs blocking roads. KILJ was also told an Olds resident lost part of his roof. And then at about 4 pm Olds Fire was called to an alley where a transformer was on fire. No injuries were reported.
