Mary Alice Breon, age 75, of rural Sperry, died Friday morning, June 14, 2013, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. The daughter of Anton and Lauretta Mooney Overmohle, she was born on July 25, 1937 in Elgin, Nebraska. She married David E. Breon on December 28, 1957 in Storm Lake.
Mary graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Storm Lake. Along with being a homemaker, she worked at the Louisa County Treasurer’s Office for 21 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dodgeville. She also was a member of the Golden Age Club, Willing Workers, and Altar and Rosary Society.
She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren along with baking, sewing, playing cards, listening and playing music, and travelling.
Her family includes her husband, Dave; six children, Kathy & Mike Benda of Ft. Madison, Dennis & Diane Breon of Mt. Union, Lisa & Donny Pyle of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Barb & Jeff Boyer of Oakville, Jeff & Laurie Breon of Wapello, and David & Tammy Breon of Grand Forks, North Dakota; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Rita & Fred Jansen, Rosie & Francis Koch, and Betty & Don Schmidt all of Storm Lake, and Lois Kestel of Schaller; and one brother, Vern & Eileen Overmohle of Wapello.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Leo and Butch Overmohle.
The funeral ceremony for Mary Breon will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dodgeville with Rev. David Steinle as celebrant and Msgr. Jim Burnett as concelebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Dodgeville.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis where the family will meet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
