The Mt. Pleasant Panther Baseball team split their two games they played at the Mid Prairie Tournament Saturday.  Panthers defeated Iowa Mennonite School 7-4, then fell to Davenport North 3-2.

In game one’s stats:   Devyn Broeker pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing 4 Runs  5 hits 8 walks 3 strike outs

Tyler Pace pitched 2/3 of an inning, he allowed 1 hit and struck out 1.


Justin Dilks 4-4  2 doubles 2 RBI’s

Jacob Dilks had a single and 2 doubles 2 RBI

Colten Shinstock had 2 Hits 1 RBI

Dustin Amos a double

Carson Remick single and 1RBI

Tyler Pace had an RBI


Carson Remick threw 5 innings allowing 1 Run off 3 Hits, 6 Walks, struck out 2

Jacob Dilks suffered the Loss on the mound pitching one inning, allowing 2 Runs off 1 Hit and gave up 3 Walks

Conner Shull 1 single

Tony Cristoforo had a double

The Panthers tonight play Fairfield in Southeast Conference action on the Maple Leaf Field.

The MPHS softball team that had the weekend off will host Fairfield tonight also.


The Mt. Pleasant Community School District Board of Directors at their regular meeting tonight will approve Jeff Schulz as the new head varsity volleyball coach at Mt. Pleasant High School, he replaces Luci Wulfekehle who stepped down from the position. Coach Schulz, has been serving as a volunteer assistant at Mediapolis High School. 

Coach Schulz attended Miami University (Ohio) and played on the Miami men’s volleyball team. 

He first coached at Mediapolis High School in 2002. 

Coach Schulz resides in Burlington, Iowa and works at Flint Cliffs Manufacturing.

Another coaching approval will Jordon Bell named as assistant boys soccer.


Craig Dollansky demolished the field on Friday night in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series main event at 34 Raceway.

The last time the World of Outlaw series was at 34 Raceway was in 2009 and fans were excited for it to return to the Burlington area filling the stands for a full house of 5000 plus fans. A record fourty-three 410 sprints  with all the big names on hand to  compete for the $10,000 to win STP World of Outlaws Sprint Feature. Twenty-seven W.T. Gabeline and Sons Trucking 305 Sprints were also providing some action for the huge crowd on hand.


The Mt. Pleasant High School softball games that were postponed have been rescheduled.

The varsity softball games vs. Ft. Madison from May 30th have been rescheduled for June 11th at Mt. Pleasant at 5:30 p.m.

The junior varsity softball games vs. Ft. Madison from May 30th have been rescheduled for June 20th at Ft. Madison at 5:30 p.m


The Iowa Wesleyan College Tigers’ cross country/track teams are selling IWC XC/Track apparel as a fundraiser in order to get some warm up/practice gear that each student-athlete can keep as his/her own.  They would like to have your support of the program by purchasing this apparel and wearing it with the Tiger Pride!!

The white t-shirt is $15, the black long sleeve is $19, and the grey sweatshirt is $31.  With each item purchased, $8 goes directly to the program to help the student-athletes buy the “Player Packs.”

As part of their 2013 fundraising effort, Team Southeast Iowa and Tailgating for Crohn’s & Colitis is having the 3nd Annual Tailgating for Crohn’s and Colitis charity event at Deerwood Golf Club in New London, Ia.  This year Team Southeast Iowa for Crohn’s & Colitis is making the event bigger and better! They will kick off the event on Friday, September 13th, 2013 with an 18-hole 4 person best shot golf tournament.  Then on Saturday, September 14th the tailgate event for the Iowa vs Iowa State football game will be held at Deerwood Country Club.  All proceeds from the event will be donated to Take Steps for Crohn’s and Colitis through Team Southeast Iowa.
