 Keokuk swept a softball double header in Mt. Pleasant last night winning 6-4 and 6-2 over the Panthers, even though over the two games the home team out hit the visitors 23 to 14.  M.P. jumped to quick lead in the first game scoring a run in each of the first two innings but then Keokuk’s offense caught fire and M.P. committed 7 errors to help them out.  Jena Stukerjuergen was the losing pitcher, Leslie Taylor was 4-4 at the plate,  Sammi Goble and Sarah Moffet were  2-4.

Game two saw M.P. again get out to a 2-0 lead but a 5 run 4th inning for the Chiefs proved to be the difference.  Sammi Goble was the losing pitcher, leading the Panther hitting with two hits each were:  Leslie Taylor, Sammi Goble, Morgan Fraise, Sarah Moffet and Kelsey Smith.

OTHER AREA SOFTBALL SCORES:  Winfield Mt. Union won 4-3 over L&M, New London beat Central Lee 2-0, Wapello defeated Pekin 9-4, Columbus outscored Lone tree 9-5, 6th ranked Highland scored a 2-1 win over Mediapolis, Burlington split with North Scott winning in the 1st game 2-0 and dropping the 2nd 8-1.

 

Mt. Pleasant swept Keokuk in Southeast conference baseball 8-1 and 11-0 having an 8 run inning in both games.  The plated 8 runs in the bottom of the 6th in the first game to come from behind and win, in the second game M.P. scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 5th to clinch the win.  Dustin Amos struck out 7 in pitching the first win and Connor Shull threw a 2 hitter in the night cap.  Carson Remick had the hot bat on the night with a 5 for 8 evening including a double, home run and 3 RBI’s.

OTHER AREA BASEBALL SCORES:  Ft. Madison swept Washington 2-0 and 6-1, North Scott swept Burlington 14-0 and 10-5, Cardinal edged West Burlington 4-2, Central lee squeaked by IMS 9-8, Van Buren won over Highland 4-0, Lone tree won big over New London 12-4.   

 

 

Coming up tonight will be the make-up Donnellson Tire IMCA Stock Car Special, which was rained out back on Friday, May 31st. The IMCA Stock Cars will be racing for a top prize of $500 to win and $70 to start in a draw / redraw format. There is no entry fees or track registration fees!

The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds will once again be racing for $500 to win and $100 to start, thanks to an anonymous sponsor. There is no entry fees or track registration required for the IMCA Modifieds.

Also in action tonight will be the Sebastian Sandblasting and Powder Coating 305 Sprints, the Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA Sport Mods, the Coor’s Light IMCA Hobby Stocks, and the Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts.
This weeks racing action will be presented by Outdoor Power Inc. of Quincy, IL and Casey’s General Stores. As it will be Schools Out night at the track, with all students  from 7-17 getting into the grandstands for FREE!

Gates will open at 5:30 pm, hot laps at 7:00 pm, and racing at 7:30 pm. Grandstand admission will be adults $10, seniors $9, students (7-17) FREE, kids 6 & under FREE! Pit passes will be $25, ages 7-13 $15, and kids 6 & under $10.

Bob Jensen Activities Director at Mt. Pleasant High School has announced the following Mt. Pleasant games :

JV/V baseball at Oskaloosa from June 4th has been rescheduled for July 11th at Oskaloosa at 5:30 p.m.

 

JV softball: Washington at Mt. Pleasant from June 6th has been rescheduled for July 3rd at Mt. Pleasant at 12:00 p.m., noon.

 

JV baseball: Washington at Mt. Pleasant from June 6th has been rescheduled for July 16th at Mt. Pleasant at 12:00 p.m., noon.

 

 

The Little Tigers Youth Football Camp will run at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant June 17th thru 19th for athletes entering grades 1-5.  Spend some time with Tiger head football coach Tom Parkevich along with his staff and some of the Tiger players as they teach you the early fundamentals of football and team sports.  The camp runs from 9-11 a.m. each day, each athlete should come to camp in shorts and t-shirt and can wear cleats if they have them and please bring water or sports drink for breaks.  Cost is just $40 for each participant, if you have questions call coach Parkevich at 385-6382.
