The Mt. Pleasant Panther baseball team was rained out of the Williamsburg Tournament

Saturday.  They were to play Logan magnolia and Williamsburg.  No word yet on if the games will be rescheduled.

Tonight the Panther baseball team plays a Southeast conference twin bill at Ft. Madison, KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the first game live beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The MPHS girls softball team also will play a double header at Ft. Madison in conference play.


The Iowa High School Athletic Association has announced the Class 1A and 2A district sites and teams, the schedule will be announced in a couple of weeks.  Class 1A has Danville and Highland hosting district games and Iowa City West will host the substate final.  Teams competing in district #8 are:  Danville, Highland, Holy Trinity Catholic, IMS, Lone Tree, New London, Burlington Notre Dame, Van Buren and Winfield Mt. Union/Waco.

Class 2A has Wapello hosting the district and Fairfield the substate final.  Teams competing are:  Central Lee, Columbus Community, Mediapolis, Mid Prairie, West Burlington and Wapello.


Raheem Black outstanding hurdler from Ft. Madison High School has signed a national letter of intent to run track at UNI in Cedar Falls.  Black is a 2 time state champion in the 400 meter hurdles and won the Drake Relays 400 hurdles in 2012.


Bob Jensen Activities Director at Mt. Pleasant High School has announced the following Mt. Pleasant games :

JV/V baseball at Oskaloosa from June 4th has been rescheduled for July 11th at Oskaloosa at 5:30 p.m.

JV softball: Washington at Mt. Pleasant from June 6th has been rescheduled for July 3rd at Mt. Pleasant at 12:00 p.m., noon.

JV baseball: Washington at Mt. Pleasant from June 6th has been rescheduled for July 16th at Mt. Pleasant at 12:00 p.m., noon.


Englishman Justin Rose at even par won the U.S. Open by two shots over Phil Mickelson and Jason Day who tied for 2nd.  Tiger Woods finished at 13 over par his worst score ever as a pro in the U.S. Open.  Iowan Zach Johnson did not make the cut and went home Saturday.


San Antonio won over Miami 114 to 104 in the 5th game of the NBA finals to take a 3 games to 2 lead in the best of seven series.  Game 6 is coming up tomorrow night in Miami at 8 p.m.


Greg Biffle won the Quicken Loans Michigan 400 Sunday for his first Sprint Cup Series win of the year.
