The Mt. Pleasant Classic Softball Tournament was played Saturday with the number one ranked team in Class 3A West Burlington-Notre Dame winning the title as they won all three of their games. The Mt. Pleasant Panthers lost all three of their games.  Columbus Community beat them 5-5, New London won over the Panthers 12-0 and West Burlington-Notre Dame beat M.P. 12-1.

Friday night Burlington swept Mt. Pleasant in softball 8-0 and 7-1 .  Jena Stukerjuergen was the losing pitcher in the first game, Leslie Taylor went 2-3 at the Plate.  In game 2 Cali Liechty suffered the loss in the circle, Jena Stukerjuergen hit a double for the Panthers.

Mt. Pleasant swept Logan Magnolia at Maple Leaf Diamond last night 13-0 and 15-0.  Dustin Amos was the winning pitcher in the 1st game tossing a one hitter, Austin Smith, Colton Schinstock, Jacob Dilks, Tony Cristoforo and Trey Magani all had 2 hits.

Game 2 had Connor Shull on the mound for the win throwing a no hitter.  Justin Dilks was 3-3 at the plate as M.P. out his L-M 27-1 on the night. MPHS is now 10-9.

BASEBALL GAMES TONIGHT:  MPHS plays at Ottumwa, Wapello at L&M, Lone Tree at Mediapolis, Ft. Madison at Fairfield, Danville at Holy Trinity Catholic, Columbus Community at IMS, Cardinal at Central Lee, New London at West Burlington, Burlington at Clinton.


The Mt. Pleasant Panther baseball team will be involved in the CLASS 3A SUBSTATE #4, Centerville and Fairfield will host the games.  Here are the other 7 schools involved in the tournament with one advancing onto the state tournament in Des Moines in July.

You didn’t have to look to the sky to know there was a full moon Saturday night with plenty of wild action on and off the track, from a 4 wide sport mod finish to the Harlem Shake in the stands. But when the night’s racing was completed six drivers went home with winners checks and a trophy. Winners Saturday night were Ryan Jamison, Mediapolis (305 sprints), Dean McGee, Galesburg, Il (modifieds), John Oliver, Jr., Danville (stock cars), Bobby Anders, Quincy, Il. (sport mods), Evan Epperson, Muscatine (mod lites) and Austen Becerra, Carthage, Il. (4 cylinders).

Coming up this Saturday, June 29 at 34 Raceway, 305 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, Mod Lites and 4 Cylinders will all be in action. Join 34 Raceway   Wednesday, July 3 for the Sprint Invaders 360 Sprints, Mod Lites, 4 Cylinders and Vintage Cars. Shoot for the Stars 360 Sprint format will include pit stop and fan interaction mid Sprint Invaders feature race. Stick around after the races for a huge fireworks display to help celebrate Independence Day.




     Two employees of the Iowa High School Athletic Association are among the 2013 Citation Award winners of the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS).

     IHSAA Director of Officials Roger Barr and Information Director Bernard (Bud) Legg will be honored at the 94th NFHS Summer Meeting Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, June 25. The luncheon is at the Hyatt Regency-Colorado Convention Center in Denver, CO.

     Citation awards will go to eight state high school association staff members. The other four Citation recipients represent NFHS professional organizations for officials, coaches, music, speech, debate and theatre. The NFHS Citation is one of the most highly regarded achievements in high school athletics and performing arts. It was created in 1997 to recognize the efforts of deserving individuals for their work within their state and service to the NFHS and related fine arts groups.

JV/V baseball at Oskaloosa from June 4th has been rescheduled for July 11th at Oskaloosa at 5:30 p.m.

JV softball: Washington at Mt. Pleasant from June 6th has been rescheduled for July 3rd at Mt. Pleasant at 12:00 p.m., noon.

JV baseball: Washington at Mt. Pleasant from June 6th has been rescheduled for July 16th at Mt. Pleasant at 12:00 p.m., noon.
