Washington swept Mt. Pleasant in Southeast Conference softball 11-1 and 13-1.  Morgan Fraise had 2 hits in the first game and Sammi Goble hit a triple in the 2nd game.  Panthers and Demons both go to the Mt. Vernon tournament today.

OTHER AREA SOFTBALL SCORES:  #1 ranked West Burlington-Notre Dame defeated Danville 10-0, #10 New London downed Van Buren 10-0, Columbus Community beat L&M 7-3, Pekin edged Mediapolis 13-10, Wapello got by Waco 18-9, Winfield Mt. Union beat Lone Tree 8-6. Fairfield beat Keokuk 4-3, Keokuk then beat Fairfield 5-4.


Mt. Pleasant swept Washington again in high school baseball, this time on Maple Leaf Field by scores of 12-2 and 13-5.  Dustin Amos was on the mound and got the win in the first game, Connor Shull was the winning pitcher in the night cap.  Hitting for the night Colton Schinstock was 3 for 3 with 4 RBI’s in the first game.  Dustin Amos and Carson Remick had 3 hits each in the second game.  With the twin win MPHS is 13-10 overall and will go to Fairfield for an important double header Monday Night, KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the first game live at 5:30 p.m.

OTHER AREA BASEBALL SCORES: Notre Dame slipped by Cardinal of Eldon 10-9, Wapello beat West Burlington 4-2, New London edged Mediapolis 2-1, IMS rolled over Danville 14-1.


Tonight will be All Pro Lawn / Hoenig Lawn Care Night at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson. It will also be the night for the Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMods to shine. The IMCA SportMods will be racing for $500 to win, $300 for 2nd, and $60 to start. There feature will be 30 laps, with a pit stop on the front stretch after lap 15 is scored complete. They will be allowed to change two tires and anything else they can in 10  minutes. Then it’s back to racing for the final 15 laps. This will be a draw/redraw event, with no entry fees or track registration fees. Also in action on the night will be the IMCA Modifieds going for $500 to win and $100 to start, the Donnellson Tire IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Hobby Stocks, and the IMCA Sport Compacts.Gates will open at 5:30 pm, hot laps at 7:00 pm, and racing at 7:30. Grandstand admission will be adults $10, seniors $9, students (7-17) $5, and kids 6 & under FREE! Pit passes will be $25, ages 7-13 $15, and kids 6 & under $10.
