Wednesday starting at 5am volunteers from Coffeey Construction, JDM, Matts Plants, the Holy Trinity Catholic School board, the HTC Foundation Board, and various school alumni came together and poured close to 1000 cubic yards of concrete for the new parking lot at the school in Ft. Madison.

Development Director Lori Wilson said it was an amazing outpouring of volunteer labor and materials. People came and went throughout the day. Sonny’s Grocery Store provided lunch and various volunteers and alumni brought in cold drinks and treats.

Around 2pm JDM called out to their other construction sites and brought in an additional crew of men for relief. They worked late into the night until they had to start shining vehicle headlights on to the cement for them to finish.

Ideal Ready Mix and Shipley Ready mix delivered for about 14 hours straight….last count it was 98 loads total. And the concrete was provided to the project at cost.

Wilson said she arrived at the school at 5:10 am and before 6 there were close to 15 trucks of cement there. She said was an amazing thing to see all those competing companies working side by from sun up till sun down. Volunteers were still working at 10 pm Wednesday night.
