Jeanie Haffner (Carol Jean Buck Haffner), 72, of Farmington, Iowa passed away at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from leukemia at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.

Born October 20, 1940 in Fort Madison the daughter of Silas Buck and Alma (Jones) Buck. She married Danny Haffner on July 10, 1960 at the Santa Fe United Methodist Church in Fort Madison.

Survivors include her husband Danny of rural Farmington, Iowa, one son Tony Haffner of Houghton, Iowa, one daughter Dana (Vernon) Hoskins of New London, Iowa, one uncle Karl Jones of Washington state and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jeanie was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church. She first worked for Woolworths Drug Store, Kresskes Five and Dime and Fort Madison Savings and Loan. After she was married she drove the kindergarten school bus for Farmington Elementary, worked for Conrad Inc. in Houghton and was office manager for Haffner Trucking Service. She was a partner with her husband in the trucking business and farming operation. Jeanie enjoyed spending time with her family, photography and pictures. She liked all types of music, the fine arts and attending concerts. Jeanie enjoyed family gatherings, taking long walks, shopping, eating out and trucking with her husband from coast to coast and border to border. She was a classic car enthusiast. Jeanie was also an avid reader and writer. She inspired her son Tony in his writings.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Sharon Presbyterian Church rural Farmington with Reverend Daniel Hempken officiating. Burial will be in the Sharon Church Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
