Mike Mills

Michael J. “Mike” Mills, 42, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, July 8, 2013 in rural Mt. Pleasant from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle/pedestrian accident.
Friends may call from 5PM to 8 PM on Friday, July 12 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends. Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no formal funeral service.
Michael James Mills was born April 2, 1971 in Burlington, IA. He was the son of Edwin Leroy and Sharon Louise (Simpkins) Mills. Mike lived with his family in rural Denmark and Bettendorf, IA until the family moved to make their home in rural Durango, CO. Mike grew up in Durango and Farmington, NM. He graduated from high school in Hatch, NM. Mike was married to Terry Mills in New Mexico. The couple later divorced. He has lived in the Mt. Pleasant area since the late 1990’s.
Mike worked in the construction trade. For the past several years, Mike has been employed with the Robert L. Smith Construction Company. During the winter months, Mike also worked at Batey’s Sawmill in rural Mt. Pleasant.
Mike was a loyal Pittsburg Steeler’s fan. He enjoyed arrowhead hunting, and was a very keen cribbage player. He dearly loved socializing with his friends, and spending time with his family and children.
Those privileged to share in Mike’s life include his 5 children – Theresa Mills of Rincon, NM, Michael Mills of Albuquerque, NM, Chevelle Mills and Cole Mills, both of New London, IA and Blake Stein of Winfield, IA; his father, Ed Mills and his wife Connie of Deming, NM; his mother, Sharon Mills of Farmington, NM; 2 sisters – Melinda Mills and Melanie Mills, both of Albuquerque, NM; 1 grandson – Jonathan Xavier of Rincon, NM; his aunt – Judy Hoover Warning of Lockridge, IA; Chevelle and Cole’s mother – Shelly Jackson of New London, 1 nephew and 2 nieces.
Those considering an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Michael Mills Memorial Fund for his children’s education.
