Richard (Pete) Dale Wilcox, 65, of Stockport, formerly of Bloomfield died at 11:23 A.M. July 18, 2013 at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City
He was born in Pulaski on Nov. 21, 1947 to Hubert and Inez McMains Wilcox and married Sheryl Barker on Oct. 7, 1969 in Memphis, MO. They divorced in 2000 and remained friends.
Pete lived most of his life in Davis County going to school at Indian Hills Community College and Kirkwood Community college and worked at Mid-States in Milton as a welder and a truck driver in the area, American Tank in Bloomfield and All-States in Memphis. He served in the Navy from 1965 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. Pete had been a member of the VFW in Bloomfield and a member of the Saddle Clubs in both Drakesville and Bloomfield. He loved his family, enjoyed collecting coins, fast horses and faster cars.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Serena Sherod (David) of Birmingham and Samantha Wilcox-Zimmer of Stockport, 5 grandchildren, a great-grandchild, 2 brothers, Jerry Dean Wilcox of Redwood, CA and Lawrence William (Barbara) of Lacrosse, WI, a sister Martha Droz of Raleigh, NC and his little dog, Molly who was his constant companion.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, 2 sisters, Marilyn Bride and Ann Beitz, 4 brothers, Francis James, Farrell (Willie), Leonard (Buzz) and Loren (Buck) Wilcox.
His body has been cremated, a memorial service will be held Saturday July 27, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Stockport Methodist Church, Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Visitation will be open from 12 to 1 P.M. at the church with the family present prior to the service. Private family burial will be in Kilbourne Cemetery..
Memorials to the Hope Lodge in Iowa City may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 16241 Juniper Trail, Birmingham, IA 52535
