Stanley William Menke, 67, of St. Paul passed away at 12:25 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at The Madison in Fort Madison. Born October 15, 1945 at St. Paul, Iowa the son of August Francis “Frank” and Catherine (Hunold) Menke. He married Bonnie Kruse they later divorced.
Survivors include two daughters Lynn Pirkle of Norfolk, Iowa, Lisa (Jon) Hromadka of Minneapolis, Minnesota, one son Chris (Danika) Menke of Mason City, Iowa and five grandchildren. Stanley is also survived by two sisters Sister Monica Menke of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Leona (Lavon) McNary of Downing, Missouri. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Frank, Maurice and Norbert, one sister Glorene Grant and one nephew Kyle James Menke.
Stanley was a member of St. James the Less Catholic Church in St. Paul and the Houghton Knights of Columbus. He was a 1963 graduate of St. James High School in St. Paul. He attended one year of Universal Trade School, he served in the United States Army Reserves from 1967 to 1973.
Friends may call and meet with the family from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday July 5, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at St. James the Less Catholic Church in St. Paul with Father Bruce DeRammelaere as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. James Church Cemetery in St. Paul.
