Evidently there has been some mis-information going around town regarding plans for Mt. Pleasant’s Central Park. Last night the city council approved the plans and specs for improvements to the park’s infrastructure. Mayor Steve Brimhall assures residents the changes are necessary and will make the park more useable but not change the look of the green space. The project includes new electrical and water distribution systems as well as new sidewalks. The park will also have to be re-graded to correct drainage problems. The actual appearance of the park will not really change except for the addition of new electric pedestals and the re-location of some light poles. New benches will finish off the project. The streets surrounding the park will also be re-done out to the center line. The sidewalk and street repair job was awarded to Mike Nelson Concrete of Burlington. Five bids were received in all. Nelson had the low bid of $339,000. Mt. Pleasant Utilties will do the water and electrical work.
