Open House scheduled for September 8

MT. PLEASANT – It’s time to celebrate! Henry County Health Center invites the public to help celebrate the completion and grand opening of HCHC’s new Surgery Department. The open house is scheduled for Sunday, September 8, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Henry County Health Center. Tours will begin in the front lobby, and visitors will be escorted through the Surgery Department. Following the tour, refreshments will be served.

The new Surgery Department includes a separate surgery waiting room; 10 private pre-operative, recovery rooms; and two operating rooms plus an endoscopy suite. When construction is finished on the Surgery Department, the focus will shift to the expansion and remodeling of Outpatient and Specialty clinic areas. Listed are the enhancements that will be made during the upcoming portion of the Phase Three expansion project:

• Improved patient registration area
• Remodeled outpatient services area
• A Laboratory with private lab draw stations
• Room improvements for outpatient cardiopulmonary services
• Additional Specialty Clinic exam rooms for visiting specialists
• A Women’s Center in Radiology
• A Health Education Center for educational classes and training
• Exterior canopy to shelter Radiology patients from adverse weather conditions

Goal within reach
Just like the Surgery Department, the HCHC Foundation’s Close to Home Campaign for the construction project is also close to completion. By Friday the 13th of September, the campaign steering committee is hoping to reach its $2 million goal. And they might just do it.

Foundation Director Michelle Rosell reported last week that the campaign is $132,500 away from their target. “We’re so close to meeting our goal that I can taste it! This has been such a wonderful journey and a worthwhile project. Because people throughout the county have been so generous and the health center means a lot to many folks, I’m feeling confident that we’ll be able to reach that $2 million mark.”

Rosell went on to explain that funds from the Close to Home Campaign will be applied toward various components within the master facility plan; the first being the new Surgery Department. The next construction phase will include expansion of the Outpatient Specialty Clinic, a new Health Education Center and Women’s Center in Radiology.

“The Surgery Open House on September 8th is just the beginning of many great things at Henry County Health Center. And we’re eager to show our donors what their dollars have accomplished thus far. ”
