Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) is looking for volunteers.

Written by on August 28, 2013 in News

SMP volunteers are mostly retired professionals who are trained to empower seniors to protect their personal information; detect healthcare errors, fraud and abuse, and report it.

Volunteers share information on scams and identity theft schemes through public awareness and small group presentations in Des Moines, Henry, Lee and Louisa Counties.

If you enjoy talking to groups, setting up and hosting exhibits at health fairs, or being an information liaison to senior nutrition centers and civic groups, we would like to hear from you. Background checks are required of all volunteers. Training is provided along with monthly updates.

Contact the Milestones Area Agency on Aging if you have an interest or would like more information: 1-800-892-9085 ask for the SMP Coordinator.

SMP is supported, in part by grant number 90MP0161, from the U.S. Administration for Community Living/Admin. on Aging, Dept. of Health & Human Services, Washington, D.C. 20201.
