Marion defeated the Mt. Pleasant Panthers in football Friday night in Marion by a score of 40-0.  The Panthers just could not generate much offense on the ground or through the air.  Two quarterbacks were used by new head coach Shawn Striegel, Dustin Amos and Spencer White shared the duties and both showed potential running the new offensive look, but just need a little more game experience.  Carson Remick led the Panther rushing and Blake Knudsen led the receiving.  One bright spot on the night was Panther punter Ben Canby who averaged over 40 yards per punt.  M.P. next Friday hosts Ottumwa while Marion travels to defending state champion Decorah.

Marion won the sophomore game 16-0 in the preliminary game Friday, Thursday Mt. Pleasant avoided the sweep by beating the Marion freshman 30-20 on Evans Field.
